About Me

Chi-Yan Yeung is a highly respected music educator and psychological consultant with over 30 years of experience. Throughout her career, she has mentored and supported over 2,000 students, combining musical expertise with psychological insight to nurture both artistic and emotional growth.

As a PhD researcher in Jungian-informed music psychology, Chi‑Yan builds on her 2018 investigation into the role of creativity in music education, particularly how a multicultural, creative approach fosters emotional balance in young people.

Currently at the University of Essex, her doctoral research investigates C. G. Jung’s Analytical Psychology and music  healing, exploring sound as a symbolic bridge to the unconscious and its potential in psychoanalytic studies

Her knowledge is informed by broader Jungian perspectives on free musical expression as a way for unconscious material, where the creative act becomes a psychological crossing point between conscious intention and hidden inner states.

Chi‑Yan’s work aligns with early pioneers in Jungian music therapy who identified connections between music and individuation through archetypal images and personal preferences.

Friendly, perceptive, and deeply committed, Chi-Yan combines her analytical psychology training with both Western classical and ethnomusicological sensitivity to support her students’ artistic, emotional, and symbolic development. Through her integrated approach, she inspires confidence, insight, and creative growth in all who work with her.
